This is probably one of the most motivating books I’ve read to date.
Business for Bohemians has done more than just inspire me to step out of my comfort zone when it comes to business and occupation. It has also helped me put words to things I’ve felt and lacked the vocabulary to express. The word ‘bohemian’ wasn’t necessarily a category I would have place myself in. However, as I traveled deeper into this book, I made so many discoveries about my outlook on the world. It was as if Hodgkinson was taking my tangled up thoughts and emotions and spelling them out in beautiful black and white rows on a page.
Business for Bohemians opens the eyes of the reader to the “art” of business. It walks through all of the steps – discovering the “why” of starting a small business, understanding spreadsheets and the craft behind them, the role of social media, as well as touching on the basic principles of leadership. But most of all, this book is filled with inspiration. Tom Hodgkinson tells hope-filled stories encouraging his readers to pursue their dreams and to just try things. Some things work out and some don’t, but there’s still life to be lived and joy to be found along those journeys.
Bottom line, this book was not only educational but also enjoyable to read. When I picked it up off the shelf, I had no idea what was drawing me to it our why I should read it. But I’m so glad I did. It has given me a new perspective on my life and it’s opened my imagination to endless possibilities.
8/10: Would recommend to anyone who dares to think that they might be ambitious enough to take their own vocation into their own hands.
